svhc ,“substance of very high concern”, refers to any substance that has adverse effects on human health and the environment.
on march 1, 2024, echa released two substances proposed to be added into the svhc candidate list for public consultations. comments are welcomed before april 15, 2024. echa regularly updates the svhc candidate list twice a year. so far, the total number of substances on the svhc list (also known as the candidate list) has reached 240.
helsinki, 23 january 2024 - the european chemicals agency (echa) has officially announced the 30th batch of 5 substances of very high concern (svhc), bringing the total number of substances on the svhc list (also known as the candidate list) to 240. echa has also updated the existing candidate list entry for dibutyl phthalate to include its endocrine-disrupting properties for the environment. dibutyl phthalate (dbp) was added in to the svhc candidate list in october 2008 in the first batch.
on september 1, 2023, the european chemicals agency (echa) proposed to include the following six substances in the list of substances of very high concern (svhc). echa has now opened a public commen, which will last until october 16, 2023. if approved, these substances will be formally added to the svhc list, becoming the 30th batch of svhc substances.
helsinki, 14 june 2023 - the european chemicals agency (echa) has officially announced the 29th batch of 2 substances of very high concern (svhc), bringing the total number of substances on the svhc list (also known as the candidate list) to 235.
to protect workers and the environment, echa recommends to adds eight substances, including lead, to the reach authorisation list. once substances are added to the reach authorisation list, companies will need to apply for authorisation before a specific date to continue using them.
february 17, 2023, echa has released two substances that are proposed to be identified as substances of very high concern (svhc) for public consultation. related enterprises may make comments on the two substances before april 3, 2023.
on january 17 2023, echa has added 9 substances into the candidate list of svhcs. the candidate list of very high concern (svhcs) now contains 233 substances that may have serious effects on people or the environment.
echa is looking for comments on nine proposals to identify new substances of very high concern. give comments by 17 october 2022.
all products intended for sale in eu shall comply with reach annex xvii- “restrictions on the manufacture, placing on the market and use of certain dangerous substances, preparations and articles” also known as "restricted substances list (rsl)". reach annex xvii sets restrictions by limiting the use or presence of substances in certain articles or banning all the uses. suppliers should ensure the presence of the restricted substances shall not exceed the threshold limits specified in the rsl.
